"Gibson Custom Handpicked 1960 Les Paul Standard VOS 2013 (Faded Denim/TV White) Overview In Summer 2013 one of our purchasing team was lucky enough to visit Gibson's Nashville Custom Shop. Whilst there we sorted through literally hundreds of Maple tops to select the finest available for a special run of one-off custom-made guitars, of which this is one. It is simply one of the finest reissues available- not only are the Maple tops handpicked but so too are the solid Mahogany backs (for extra-light weight and resonance) and solid one-piece, extra-dark Rosewood fingerboards. A Faded Denim top / TV White back finish may well never have been seen on a Historic Les Paul reissue before? We saw a Les Paul Custom with this colour combination in the Custom Shop and thought it was awesome but perhaps not with the gold hardware and gloss finish- hence the idea behind this guitar. Wonderful as they are, not every player who wants one of the finest Les Pauls in the world also wants a 'Burst! The results speak for themselves, this is a jaw-droppingly good looking guitar. Like all VOS (Vintage Original Spec) instruments, this LPR0 VOS has a special nitrocellulose finish treatment gives it the patina of a gently aged vintage instrument. This 1960 Les Paul has a Version 2 style neck profile which has been hailed as one of the most comfortable neck shapes on any Les Paul ever. It is not too fat and not too thin. Interestingly, the guys at the Custom Shop suggest that the only reason it hasn't been adopted more widely as 'the perfect' neck shape is because many people purchasing a Historic Les Paul think they want a regular traditional vintage profile- anything that is modern sounding (like V2) can put some people off. However spend a couple of minutes with this neck and 90% of players will be converted! Aside from the custom features outlined for each individual guitar it is constructed to 2013 Historic specification. This includes one-piece Rosewood fingerboards (all our Handpicked models are extra-dark), KlusonGäó Deluxe machine heads, hot-hide glue neck fit, a Historic Truss Rod assembly with no tubing, accurate body and fingerboard binding colour and new Custom Buckers created in the image of the original PAFs. These pickups are not available separately."
