"The Fender 1 of 1 Masterbuilt 'the Vette' Stratocaster Scott Buehl: a rare and remarkable masterpiece that merges the worlds of guitars and automobiles in a breathtaking display of craftsmanship. This extraordinary instrument, designed and built by the esteemed Masterbuilder Scott Buehl in 1994, pays homage to the 40th Anniversary of the legendary Stratocaster, combining its iconic design with the timeless allure of a Corvette. 1994 was a special 'stratocaster' year, some of the nowadays most collectible strats were issued, and some of them resemble this stratocaster, like the 40th Anniversary Playboy, The Shelby GT strat(also unique), the Famed Jaguar (limited) and the famous Harley Davidson Stratocaster, of which 109 were made. Pricing of 30.000$ and up are seen on these guitars, and must be considered The cremé the la cremé of the Modern collectibles. The Harley Davidson was Designed by John Page, J.W. Black and Pamelina Hovnatanian, and came with more or less similar specs as this unique 'Vette Red' with custom-made aluminium body. Selectively plated in chrome and gold an with impressive Figured maple neck, ebony fretboard. Mostly built by people like JW black, Scott Buehl, Jason Davis to name a few. This one-off version is based on the Chevrolet Corvette and really 'drives' like one, even the switching feels like handling a gear-box. It features aluminium body, highly figured maple neck in 'Corvette Red' see thru lacquer, with ebony centre piece, and ebony fingerboard with pearl dot inlay. Body is finished in 'Vette Red' finish, with anodized pickguard and 'Vette Red' pickup covers, specially designed 'vette style' volume/tone knobs. Also notable are the aluminium based fine-tune saddles. Another nice detail is seen in the unique case, of a type i never seen before, a sort of alu-style-waved tolex. A superior all original unique custom shop master-built lightweight stratocaster. A bit of history: Starting in 1993, Fender experimented with an alternative for wood, by producing bodies made of aluminium. Aluminium is a lightweight, durable, shape-able and resonant material. These aluminium experimental phase in Fender History resulted in the production of several different Stratocaster models with aluminium bodies that in several limited edition and a number of one-off Stratocasters. This is one of them, The Kevin Schultz collection shows a good number of them. And this one is definitely one of the most appealing one-offs made at the time. Also definitely one of the most collectible that passed our shop over the last years. In excellent condition with lacquer chips uper horn and back and signs of use on the body.
